Meet the photographer
If perception is reality, then a photographer's job is much more important than the clicking of a shutter. We are literally bringing what we see to life. So, how we see is very important.
Too often, people in this world resort to nihilism and skepticism. They see the world as pointless, meaningless, and lacking value. I could not disagree more. I believe in an absolute Beauty, Goodness, and Truth that resides all around us. I am passionate about photography because I am passionate about life. Photography allows me to explore the simple Goodness of two people coming together in marriage, the Beauty of vast landscapes here in the Pacific Northwest, or the Truth of social, economic, and religious movements.
Jesus put it like this, "The eye is the lamp of the body; so then if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness."

My Philosophy
I believe that to become a good photographer, one must learn to create images that represent how they feel during a given moment. Their camera needs to be more than just an extension of their eyes. It needs to be an extension of their whole person - body, mind, and spirit.
I believe that becoming a great photographer requires something even more - empathy - to capture how someone else feels during a given moment. As far as I am concerned, that ability to materialize a moment in time for someone else - so that they can experience it again in the future - is a superpower.
But beyond the good and the great, there are the best. The photographers that can unite their own feelings with those of another to tell a story greater than either could have achieved alone.
In other words, the best moments are the ones shared and the best stories are the ones told together. The best photographers know that.
This is the philosophy that has driven me to create photographs. Each photo I create is an attempt at being fully present in a moment so that I might be able to tell its story.
It would be my honor and joy to tell those stories with you!
